This study presents a two-phase algorithm for the characterization of carcinogenic microcalcifications in mammographic images using BI-RADS 4 distribution and morphology descriptors. In the first phase, the algorithm performs image segmentation to isolate suspicious microcalcifications. In the second phase, the segmented objects are analyzed and classified for diagnostic purposes based on their morphological features according to BI-RADS 4 criteria. The proposed method aims to support early breast cancer detection by improving the precision and reliability of microcalcification assessment.
